Curriculum vitae

Melissa Dougherty Anderson is a private practice Estate Planning Attorney residing in Golden, Colorado.  A native of Colorado, her love of academia, led her to interest in writing and the law at an early age.

 

Melissa went to University of Florida for her undergraduate degree in Journalism, and was a Producer and investigative reporter for the local television affiliate.  After graduation, she worked for MTV, Nickelodeon, and Sundance Film Festival, where she began consulting with Cable television attorneys.  It was at this juncture, she decided to shift gears to the study of law.  She worked in the Law Office of Joseph G. Hodges Jr, an esteemed Estate Planning Attorney just prior to law school.

 

While at University of Denver Sturm School of Law, Melissa was awarded with an American Jurisprudence award in Criminal Law after receiving the highest grade in her class.  She went on to Clerk for the Denver District Criminal Court, Jefferson County Civil Court, Colorado Department of Revenue Division of Gaming, and Haddon Foreman Criminal Law Firm.   Ultimately upon graduation, she accepted a job offer from the Colorado Department of Revenue in the Hearings Division.

 

Following a 7 year tenure of Government Service at the Colorado Department of Revenue, while maintaining a private practice after business hours on nights and weekends, she made the shift to committing exclusively to her Private Practice focusing on Estate Planning and Probate Administration.

 

Melissa is a member of the Colorado Bar Association Trust & Estate Section, Committee member for EWills, Orange Book of Forms, and CUTC.  She also volunteers her expertise to Metro Volunteer Lawyers for indigent Power of Attorney Clinics at local nursing homes.  Melissa stays active in the local community as the Golden Civic Foundation Vice President, and Chamber of Commerce Ambassador.
